Here's what old pipes can do to your tap water

We’re pretty lucky to live in a place where our tap water is drinkable. It may not be perfect, but it’s some of the best in the world.

However, if you live in a building with rusty, corroded, or leaking pipes, your tap water likely won’t be that same clear, crisp, delicious water many like to brag about.

Because water is a natural solvent, it can pick up odours and flavours from its surroundings.

Old pipes can result in water that:

  • Smells gross.
  • Tastes worse.
  • Could be harboring bacteria.
  • Can stain clothing and sinks.

There are two solutions for the ‘murky pipe water’ problem:

  1. Get the pipes fixed! Please!

  2. If it’s out of your control - or you don’t want to take the risk of it happening again - think about investing in a non-intrusive water filtration system.
